Items, types and custom fields

In Barzaman, everything you plan is an item, and every item has a type: task, event, class, homework, exam, shift, visit, meeting, medication and more. The type decides the item’s fields, statuses and default reminders.

Creating items

• Quick add: type a sentence like “Project meeting Thursday 10am, 2 hours, remind 15 min before”. Barzaman parses it offline.
• Full editor: set every detail — start and end, all-day, priority, color, location, recurrence, reminders and fields.
• From the timetable (long-press an empty slot), a note, or a template.

Statuses

Planned, in progress, done, partially done (with progress), postponed (with a new time), skipped (on purpose), cancelled and blocked. Class sessions use present, absent, excused and late.

Past items with no status become “missed” automatically after a grace period (12 hours by default). A status you set yourself always wins over an automatic one.

Custom types

In More → Types, create a type and set its name, icon, color, default duration, statuses, default reminders and behaviors (such as “has a score” or “counts toward the average”). The Free plan includes up to 3 custom types.

Custom fields

Fields can live on a type (all its items) or on a single item. Kinds include text, long text, number, currency, percent, date, date & time, duration, select, multi-select, checkbox, rating, URL, email, phone, file and relation. The Free plan allows up to 5 fields per type.

Example: a “Weekly paper” with a value per session

Say your “Research Methods” course has a different paper to present every week:

1. Open the “Research Methods” course and tap New field.
2. Name it “Weekly paper” and choose Text.
3. Set the scope to Per occurrence (not “Whole item”).
4. In each session, enter that week’s paper from the session sheet.

The course page shows every value as a history table, and reports can count, say, “papers presented this term”. Because the field lives on this course only, your other courses stay uncluttered.

Parent–child links

A course can hold its homework, exercises, grades and exams. Items can also stand alone and be linked later with “Link to…”. Projects support dependencies such as finish-to-start.

Formulas and rollups (Plus)

Formula fields compute their value from other fields — including calendar-aware date functions such as “Jalali month”. Rollup fields sum, average, count or take min/max or percent done across linked items.
