Making reminders reliable on Android
Notification and exact-alarm permissions, battery optimization, and autostart settings for Xiaomi, Samsung, Huawei, Oppo, Realme, OnePlus, Vivo, Tecno and Infinix phones.
On this page
Barzaman schedules reminders on the phone with Android’s official alarm APIs. Some manufacturers, however, kill background apps or delay their alarms to save battery. This guide follows the manufacturer notes collected at dontkillmyapp.com.
Menu names vary by phone model and Android version. If you can’t find an option, type its name into your phone’s Settings search.
Step 1: core permissions (every phone)
- Notifications (Android 13+): Settings → Apps → Barzaman → Notifications → on.
- Alarms & reminders (Android 12+): Settings → Apps → Special app access → “Alarms & reminders” → Barzaman → allowed.
- Battery optimization: Settings → Apps → Barzaman → Battery → Unrestricted (or “Don’t optimize”).
- Full-screen notifications (Android 14+, for alarm style): Settings → Apps → Special app access → “Full-screen notifications” → Barzaman → allowed.
Step 2: manufacturer settings
Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO (MIUI and HyperOS)
- Settings → Apps → Manage apps → Barzaman → turn on Autostart.
- On the same screen: Battery saver → No restrictions.
- Under “Other permissions”, allow Show on lock screen and Display pop-up windows while running in the background.
- Open Recent apps and lock Barzaman (long-press or pull down its card and tap the lock icon).
Samsung (One UI)
- Settings → Apps → Barzaman → Battery → Unrestricted.
- Settings → Battery (or Device care) → Background usage limits: make sure Barzaman isn’t in “Sleeping apps” or “Deep sleeping apps”, and add it to Never sleeping apps.
- If “Put unused apps to sleep” is on, exclude Barzaman.
Huawei and Honor (EMUI and MagicOS)
- Settings → Battery → App launch → Barzaman: turn off “Manage automatically” and enable Auto-launch, Secondary launch and Run in background.
- Lock Barzaman in Recent apps.
- If Power saving mode is always on, turn it off when you have important reminders.
Oppo, Realme and OnePlus (ColorOS, realme UI and OxygenOS)
- Settings → Apps → App management → Barzaman → Battery usage: turn on Allow background activity and Allow auto launch.
- On OnePlus: Settings → Battery → Battery optimization → Barzaman → Don’t optimize.
- Lock Barzaman in Recent apps.
Vivo (Funtouch OS and OriginOS)
- Settings → Battery → Background power consumption management → Barzaman → Allow high background power consumption.
- i Manager → App manager → Autostart manager → enable Barzaman.
Tecno and Infinix (HiOS and XOS)
- Phone Master → App management → Auto-start management → enable Barzaman.
- Settings → Battery → App power saving → Barzaman → No restrictions.
- Lock Barzaman in Recent apps.
Step 3: test it
Run the reminder test in Settings → Reminders → Reminder health, or create a test item with a reminder 2 minutes ahead, turn the screen off and wait. If it arrives late, go through the steps again.
More tips
- Do Not Disturb: alarm-style reminders pass through Do Not Disturb like an alarm clock; regular reminders follow your DND settings.
- Cleaning apps and “Close all” in Recents stop apps on some phones; locking Barzaman in Recents prevents this.
- System updates sometimes reset these settings; check again after one.
- Barzaman re-schedules reminders automatically after a reboot, a time or time-zone change, and an app update.
