Calendars, digits and week start
Choose your primary and secondary calendars, adjust Hijri dates, and set digits, week start and time format to your liking.
On this page
Barzaman supports three calendars side by side, and every date calculation — from repeats to reports — is correct in all of them.
Supported calendars
| Calendar | Notes |
|---|---|
| Jalali (Solar Hijri) | Matches Iran’s official calendar, including leap years and 30 Esfand. |
| Hijri | Umm al-Qura (Saudi official) or tabular, with a ±2-day adjustment. |
| Gregorian | The international civil calendar. |
Primary and secondary calendar
In Settings → Calendar & date:
- Choose the primary calendar — dates, months and reports follow it.
- Choose a secondary calendar — its day number appears small next to every day. You can switch it off.
Adjusting Hijri dates
The start of Hijri months depends on local moon sighting. If Barzaman’s Hijri date is a day or two off from your local calendar, set the Hijri adjustment anywhere from −2 to +2 days.
Digits
Choose Persian (۱۲۳), Arabic-Indic (١٢٣) or Latin (123) digits. The setting applies everywhere: dates, times, reports, even the timetable PDF.
Week start and time format
- Week start: Saturday, Sunday or Monday. Week views, the timetable and weekly reports begin on this day.
- Time: 24-hour (17:30) or 12-hour (5:30 PM).
Month names
Afghan users can choose Dari solar month names (Hamal, Sawr, Jawza…). For Arabic, pick Levantine (كانون الثاني…) or Egyptian/Gulf (يناير…) Gregorian month names.
Holidays and prayer times
- Official holidays come from Barzaman’s server and are cached for offline use. Because Iran’s lunar holidays are officially announced each year, none are hard-coded; until the official list arrives, lunar dates are marked as estimated.
- Prayer times are optional: pick a calculation method (such as Tehran or Umm al-Qura) and a city to show them in the day view and, if you like, to set quiet windows for reminders.
